What the world needs now

What the world needs now is another piece of social software. Does this exist yet? I would like to be able to create a tagged list of books I have read -- like del.icio.us except with paper books. Perhaps del.icio.us could be used for this purpose, if one linked to the Amazon page for the relevant book. However, it's a bit of a stretch for del.icio.us.

It would make sense for a library (or amazon for that matter)--like Library of congress? to have this kind of software, that way, you'd have access to book descriptions, etc.

Actually--the amazon.com api is free, so it might not be all that hard to develop this.

Yeah -- part of the coolness of this piece of social software is that it would facilitate the understanding of different people's intellectual background. You start to understand a little better where people are coming from when you know what they have read.
